Dear Paper Presenters, Moderators and Participants, 

Thank you all for your contributions to and participation in the 2024 International Conference on Transition and Transformation:  Explorations in Language, Literature, Culture, and Translation.  We hope that the conference was a meaningful experience of academic presentations and exchanges, learning and reflection for you as it was for us. 

We would like to sincerely invite you to continue to write and revise your papers related to the issues covered in this conference, and submit them to issue 25 of Fu Jen Journal of Foreign Languages (FJJFL): 
Transition and Transformation: Explorations in Language, Literature, Culture, and Translation. 

Submission deadline: June 30,  2025

Publication date: December 31, 2025

Dear all, 

The New Taipei City government, as well as many other cities', has announcement that class-and-work will proceed as usual, so we will have our conference in person. 
If you, for some reason, cannot make it to Fu Jen, please write email to us at cfllconference@gmail.com, or call Lynn Lee at 0937195529. 
Have a safe trip to Fu Jen, and let's look forward to a great intellectual feast!

Since Dr. Pascal Chabot's trip to Taiwan was hindered by the typhoon, he will have to deliver his speech online from Belgium. Out of consideration of Taiwan-Belgium time difference, his talk will be switched with Dr. Christine Huang's.  

Dear Conference Participants: 

Tropical Storm Kong-Rey

• If the New Taipei City government announces on 10/31 that work and class will both be canceled on 11/1 due to the typhoon, the 11/1 conference will be held online instead. 

• Further instructions regarding the online conference setup will be given after Thursday 8:00 pm should we need to change our format. 

• If no such class-and-work cancellation notice is issued by the New Taipei City government, the conference will proceed onsite, while we will try to accommodate the conference participants' safety concerns on an individual basis.  

• The same applies if typhoon Kong-Rey strikes New Taipei City only for one day (Friday): we will have our conference onsite on 11/2 this Saturday as long as there is no cancellation of class and work from the New Taipei City government issued on the evening of 11/1.

In a word, our priority goes to holding the conference onsite, and we switch to the online mode only when we are notified by the New Taipei City government that class and work are to be canceled. The conference staff members are getting ready for both possible modes.
