Synopsis

This paper focus on the topic of recreation in the ambit of translation of Chinese classical poetry. To study this topic, the article explores the Spanish translation by Octavio Paz of two poems from the Chinese poet of Tang dynasty Du Fu. Based on the poet-translator feature of Octavio Paz and the recreative aspect that his two translation presented, the topic of recreation can be closely discussed. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is a general introduction of the content. The second gives an outline of the author Octavio Paz and his feature of "orientalism". The third chapter tackles the matter of translation of Chinese classical poems by presenting Ezra Pound and Arthur Waley, two English language translators whose methods and ideas significantly inspired Paz’s translations. Chapter four starts the discussion of the recreation on the poetry translation, with analysis Paz's two Spanish translations. The last chapter concludes the initial question of recreation in the poetry translation with analyzed examples.
