This paper intends to take the teaching of Latin American Studies in Spanish programs in China as an example, comb through its historical development, summarize the current development dynamics in a general way, and analyze how to incorporate the knowledge, theories and methodologies of regional studies in the teaching of foreign language disciplines in the light of the dual concerns of teaching and research. On this basis, the present study points out the existing problems and proposes measures to deal with them. The aim is to propose a path for foreign language teaching in the direction of regional studies to complete the knowledge structure, enrich the theoretical level, and enhance research.
